Dream keeper / Eldar Taghizada for NARGIS Magazine 131, June '25
Eldar Taghizada is a name that is increasingly resonating on football fields across Europe and in the hearts of Azerbaijani fans. Having started his journey in the youth teams of Neftchi, at the age of 13 he went abroad to learn from the best — at the renowned football academy Fundación Marcet in Barcelona. In January 2021, at just 17 years old, Eldar signed a contract with the French club Clermont Foot, where he continued to develop as a professional. His path to Barcelona began with successful performances at the Spanish club Lugo. At the decisive contract signing withBarcelona, none other than Joan Laporta himself was present. Thus, Eldar became the first Azerbaijani to sign a contract with this legendary club — an achievement that is not just a personal milestone but also a source of pride for representing his country on a global stage. Last year, he went on loan from Barcelona to the Spanish club Tudelano to gain regular playing time and further his experience.
Today, he has returned to Barcelona, ready for new challenges and victories. In an exclusive interview with NARGIS Magazine, Eldar shares not only his story but also his dreams — about big games, new heights, and the importance of never forgetting where you come from. His journey inspires many young athletes, and his ambitions prove that the impossible can become possible.
